Ever wanted to do a detox without having to live on nothing but fruit juices? Detoxing through the feet is highly effective and really easy. Detoxing through your feet will cleanse your body of the toxins that have built up over time through wrong eating, smoking and breathing in harmful chemicals. There are lots of different ways to detox your feet. All of them are pleasant and relaxing. A word of caution: Detox will not cure fungal infections which require very specific treatment. Do a detox through your feet and give your body a natural cleanse. Here are a few detox ideas: Homemade Detox Bath You can prepare your own foot detox bath. You will need a container that is large enough for both of your feet to soak in. Grab a packet of herbal foot detox preparation from your chemist or health food store. You can also make your own. Just mix together some tea, garlic, ginger and dried citrus peel. Green tea is best and will also help with foot odour. Experiment with mixes until you find a combination that feels good for your feet. You need very hot water in your detox bath. Boil water and add to container. Then gradually add in cold water until it reaches a temperature you can tolerate. Put on some relaxing music, light a scented candle or oil burner, pop your feet in and soak for 25 minutes. Relax! Detox Food Pads You can purchase special food pads designed to detox your system. You should be able to get these at your health store or chemist. Detox foot pads are usually made from bamboo extract which has a strong drawing quality. Food detox pads have their origin in Japanese culture. Foot pads should be applied to the soles of the feet before bed. Leave them on all night so they can do their detoxing work while you sleep. In the morning remove the pads. You will notice the used pads are stained with the toxins that have exited your body. The regular use of detox foot pads is reputed to reduce headaches, aches and pains, and fatigue. Ionic Foot Baths Ionic foot baths are created by producing positive and negative ions in warm to hot salty water. The ionized water facilitates a process called electrolysis, which is basically the use of an electric current to create a chemical reaction. Energy charges the saltwater converting the water molecules into ions. The warm water opens the pores in your feet and the salt acts as an astringent. The ions are absorbed into the feet assisting detoxification. The salt water will react with the ionic cartridge and cause the water to become brown. This discoloration is caused by a chemical reaction and not by toxins coming out of the body as is sometimes thought. Ionic foot baths can be used for around 45 minutes at a time and should be repeated twice a week for a month, then twice a month for the next month or two, and monthly after that.
